In memory of Clayton Robert Iron-Necklace Jr.

 

This past Sunday it was brought to my attention that Clayton
Robert Iron-Necklace Jr. died on June 2 at the Arizona State
Prison in Tucson, Arizona. Clayton had his on my website for
quite some time. It's strange, nobody knows how he died?

Well, his death is under investigation, and all I can say is that
my sympathy goes out to Clayton his family, friends & relatives.

And Clayton.... may you find peace,
 now that your spirit has been released....

I am serving a 14 years prison term in Arizona. At trial I was
deemed guilty on one allegation of “sales of narcotic”. Currently
I am in solitary confinement at a “super maximum” security prison
known as “SMU II” (special management unit # 2). This prison is
one of the harshest and cruellest in the USA… yet relatively unknown
to the world due to its remote desert location. Since my arrival
at SMU II, on August 16 2001, I have not witnessed the sun, moon,
stars, clouds, rain, wind, nature, vivid colors, etc. I have only
seen and felt and walked on cold, hard, grey concrete. With the
exception of 3-5 minute showers per week, my days are spent in a
very small 10 by 8 foot cell with no windows – even the meals are
brought to my cell. The lights in my cell are on bright 24 hours a
day. I am not permitted physical contact with other prisoners nor
with people from the “outside” world. I am not permitted to work.
So, for prisoners, like myself with very limited support and contact
from family, it is sometimes difficult acquiring basic needs such
as soap/hygiene items, writing materials, postage, etc. the living
conditions at SMU II are designed with the specific intent of in-
flicting damage on a prisoner’s mental, physical and spiritual
health and vitality. This is just a brief account of where and
how I am living at this time….

With that said and despite everything, my hope and optimism for my
future are alive and well. I have dreams and I have established
positive goals. It is a difficult task but I am very determined to
change and improve my life – starting first from within myself. I
admit, I’ve made wrong choices in life, but I hope you will explore
and discover the contents of my heart before judging me…

I enjoy reading, writing, educating myself, listening to music,
drawing and exercising. Basically that is all I can do in this small
cell all day. About my personality, I like to think that I am kind,
caring, considerate, compassionate, respectful, optimistic, good
sense of humor, loyal, trustworthy, protective, generous, confident
(not arrogant) and easy to talk with. I am also a good listener and
I enjoy mature and intelligent conversations on all levels and topics…

My hobbies; well, I have a lot of them, but the one thing I love to do most
is drawing and paint. That takes a lot of my time, I love it. I also love
anything to do with the outdoors and I love to work. I like to work with my
hands; I'm good at making and fixing things.

Te reason I would like to write someone is because I don't have anyone to
write to, and the reason is I don't write that good. I'm scared that someone
won't write me back, but the real reason is that I've been locked up for a
long time and no one writes me. You know, I haven't had a visit in 13 years
and I'm lonely. I would like or someone to talk with and to get to know
someone. Since I've been in here my mom and dad passed away and my brothers
and sisters don't write me. It's like I'm passed away as well. Even my kids
don't write me. I'm divorced, I have been for 16 years. I have 3 kids, all
girls; Tina, France and Denise. I love them with all of my heart and wish
they would write. But you know, out of sight out of mind. I do hope someone
will like to write to me. I prefer females and would like to continue writing
after my release.

time to do in this steel and concrete jungle. My interests are exercising
and making Native American art. I also like horses a lot. I enjoy reading

I was raised in Arizona all my life. Got locked up at the age of 19. I'm now
22, never had any relationships. I like to consider myself Native in spirit,
I never look down on either sides of my blood. Well, I enjoy books, learning
all I can about whatever. Classics, romance books get me lost in a dream. In
the real world I never loved anything, but now I'm learning about that and
things in life I always took for granted. I'm a person who looks in the sky
and when seeing a plane wonder where it's going? What life do people live in
another part of the world?

What I look for: well, love is what I most would look for, or at least a friend.
I'm looking for happiness, companionship. In my world there can never be love or
happiness, what I really want is someone who will listen to what I have to say
and I will do the same. I don't want to feel alone, I want to be sure of that.
Friendship is less, love is to much, whatever is in between that's what I want,
and whatever story comes from that book will always be treasured.
